EIMCO Water Technologies has introduced its desalination technology for mining applications to the Australian market.
The company says its Brackett Green Travelling Band Screens are being increasingly adopted internationally.
Emico claims as energy, desalination and processing operations increase in scale - with higher demands on scarce water resources — it will be vital for processing plants to protect their equipment and their environment with the best technology available.
The manufacturer says the unit has been designed for installation on raw water intakes where a continuous and efficient means of removing floating and suspended solids.
It can be used in power stations, refineries, aluminium plants, steel works and for industrial cooling water applications.
Fitted with mesh aperture sizes from 1.5-10mm the screens can be installed as a single system or as part of a two-or three-stage system.
Debris collected on the travelling mesh panels is raised to deck level and removed by backwashing. Main chains, supported by two sprockets above deck, carry the screening band with drive being provided by an electric motor through a shaft-mounted reduction gear unit. Underwater, the main chains run in guide sections fitted with wearing strips located in a self-supporting fabricated frame.
