Moura Coal and Country Festival a hit

THE annual Moura Coal and Country Festival gave way to a ‘hive of activity’ at the small mining town, according to local members.

The week-long event kicked off this year from 16 August, 2008.

Secretary of the Moura Coal and Country Festival committee, Maureen Clancy, says while numbers were down, nothing could improve the famous event.

The Festival, which boasts a 37 year history, aims to give recognition to the strong presence of coal mining in the area.

It features coal shovelling and roof bolting competitions, as well as chainsaw events.
